Notes from last night:
Two week we talked about East vs. West methodology for thought and perception. As a part of that, we have to reckon how we perceive God, who God is, What he is. We have already talked about defining “religion,” and how we interact with it, so then let us take it a step further and
Define two weeks ago in your own words:
Define: God or Christianity in your own words.
One thing that occurs though is the pursuit of theologically defining God. It isn’t a bad thing, but its a geese (yes, geese) chase that can run us into the ground and doesn’t impact our day to day reality.
That is why Cs Lewis wrote in the The Weight of Glory:
———————–
If our religion (Christianity) is something objective, then we must never avert our eyes from those elements in it which seem puzzling or repellent; for it will be precisely the puzzling or the repellent which conceals what we do not yet know and need to know.
I read in a periodical the other day that the fundamental thing is how we think of God. By God Himself, it is not! How God thinks of us is not only more important, but infinitely more important. Indeed, how we think of Him is of no importance except insofar as it is related to how He thinks of us.

Check Rob Bell’s take on this:
Building out this idea of God believing in us is not license for pride or ignorance, but a license to move forward in trust and confidence.
